Anupama & Reva Srivastava
San Francisco, CA
Anupama Srivastava is a dancer, performer, teacher, and choreographer of the North Indian Classical Kathak dance. Her daughter, disciple and duet-partner Reva Srivastava is a brilliant budding Kathak artist and a 2022 US Presidential Scholar in the Arts.
It was Reva’s zeal for learning this dance form that inspired Anupama to start InSyncKathak Dance School. Over the past decade, the mother-daughter duo has charmed audiences with their spectacular duets. Their dance is marked by fluid and graceful movements, strong technique, fiery footwork, exquisite expressions, nuanced artistry, amazing synchronization and palpable chemistry.
Anupama is a disciple of Padmashri Guru Shovana Narayan. She is a Master Artist and grant-recipient (with Dr. Anjali Sahay) recognized by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. As further testament to her teaching prowess, her students have attained recognition in the World Dance discipline through the National YoungArts Foundation: Vyoma Bhanap (Finalist 2023), Saanvi Ranadive (Merit 2023) and Reva Srivastava (Finalist 2022).
Anupama’s choreographies have won wide acclaim and accolades across the US, Canada and India, including National YoungArts Week Miami, San Francisco Movement Arts Festival, PUSHfest, Oakland Dance Festival, Toronto International Youth Dance Festival to name a few. This summer, Anupama will be leading her team to present at the All Indian Dance Festival at Carnegie Hall NY.
Anupama holds a BS and an MS in Electrical Engineering and has had an 18-year career in Silicon Valley while embracing her passion for dancing. Reva is currently a freshman majoring in Human Biology at UC Santa Cruz.
