Priya Persad, is a twenty-five (25) year old, born in the Caribbean country, Trinidad and Tobago. She is a young, devoted and dedicated student of Kathak Dance.. Priya is also pursuing ACCA and an external auditor at PriceWaterHouseCoopers Limited for the pass two years. Over the years she has developed a passion for Indian classical music and today, she is a very capable sitar and tabla player as well as vocalist from the Bharatiya Vidya Sansthaan of Trinidad and Tobago. She has also received numerous accolades such as: Secondary School Sanskritic Sangam Most Outstanding Indian Classical and Folk Dance and placed 1st in both categories in 2013 and 2015, 1ST Place in the Mahatma Gandhi Charitable Organization Dance Contest 2017, 3rd in 2017, 2nd in 2019 and two time winner in 2021 and 2022 in the National Council of Indian Culture dance Competition and many awards for her contribution towards Indian classical Dance. Priya believes that dancing is not about getting to a certain place on the stage but it is simply about enjoying each step along the way. She dances to express not to impress and she has the goal to promote, enlighten and increase awareness of Indian classical dance locally and internationally.
