Over the past few years, Rohit Pawar has emerged as a brilliant, energetic and fast rhythmic Kathak dancer who has imbibed the intricacies of this classical dance form within himself under the able guidance of his Guru Smt. Vaswati Misra and his brother Rahul Pawar.
Introduced to dance at a very young age, Rohit has come a long way. He has successfully passed the ‘Virasat’ from Pt. Shambhu Maharaj Kathak.
Rohit Pawar has worked with Dhwani repertory, a cultural organization run by Smt. Vaswati Misra. He has performed in major Festivals with Dhwani. He has also worked as an assistant director in many school productions. Rohit has also worked in Dhwani’s mega project called ‘Pinocchio’ in which he got the opportunity to work with renowned artists like Gulzar and Zakir Hussain. He performed for Dhwani mega events like Common Wealth Games, Ananya Festival in Purana Quila, Lucknow Mahotsav, Maharana Kumbha Samaroh, Chaiti Festival, Badal Rag Festival, SIIFCY International Film Festival, META Award Function, Virasat Festival, Kathak Mahotsav-New Delhi.
International Productions : Sailing the Silk Road, he has also given his solo performances in many programmes. In 2018, he got the “ Lacchu Maharaj Award” and Rang Rasiya Award in the year 2020 for his solo performance.
He has been performing since a very young age, dance is not just his profession but his passion. This profession has been in their family since generations and he wishes to leave an impression in his field. He wants to keep the Indian Folklore Tradition alive by continuing this rich culture of Kathak. He has been featured in Indian Talent Magazine.
He has performed in many programmes like Trishanku (Rachna Yadav), Rang Varsha, Taal rang, In Search of Love (Astha Dixit), Swara, Eklavya, Heroinsheds (Vaswati Misra), Yashodhara Production (Jitendra Maharaj) and many International performances in Ecuador, Beijing (China), Kuwait, Germany etc. He has been the repertory artist in ‘Kathak Kendra,’ New Delhi. He has performed internationally through the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
