Sugandh Lamba is an upcoming independent Kathak dancer working in the field of Contemporary and Kathak Dance as choreographer, performer and educator for the past 8 years. She has been trained in Kathak since the age of 5 and later got the opportunity to learn Lucknow Gharana of Kathak under the tutelage of the legendary maestro, Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaji, at his institute ‘Kalashram’ in Delhi.
She has also been a part of prestigious dance companies such as Nrityangana – a dance company by Preeti Srivastava where she performed and received her advanced training in Kathak. Her knack to explore and learn the finer nuances of Kathak brought her to Mumbai to further hone her skills from Pandita Uma Dograji, a leading Kathak exponent of the Jaipur Gharana and a Gandabandh Shagird of Great Kathak Maestro Pt. Durga Lalji. Besides being a performer, she is an educator who works extensively on artistry, technique, improvisations and characteristic energy. She passionately has been imparting training in Kathak and body movement to young children and adults for over 8 years and now runs her own academy in Mumbai.
Sugandh has received a Masters in Kathak Dance from the Allahabad University and diploma from Kalashram, Delhi. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Delhi University and a Diploma in Marketing, from Sikkim Manipal University.
