The Susan Mohip Dance Company is a dynamic and prestigious troupe rooted in the rich tradition of Indian Classical Kathak dance. Founded and led by the illustrious Shrimati Susan Mohip—affectionately known as Baby Susan—the company is renowned for its elegant choreography, technical excellence, and cultural depth. Based in Trinidad and Tobago, the company showcases Indian Classical Kathak, Bollywood, and traditional folk dances from India and the Caribbean, captivating audiences across the Caribbean, USA, and Canada.
Shrimati Susan Mohip began dancing at the age of three, inspired by her mother. A prodigious talent, she became one of Trinidad’s leading creative dancers, winning numerous national competitions before earning an I.C.C.R. scholarship to study Kathak at Kathak Kendra, New Delhi. Under the tutelage of masters like the late Shrimati Reba Vidyarthi, Shrimati Durga Arya and Shrimati Vaswati Mishra, she achieved top honors in both Diploma and Postgraduate programs. She further trained in Indian folk dance, Hindustani classical vocal, and tabla skills that now inform the rich versatility of her choreographic vision.
Susanji has performed for dignitaries including the Prime Minister of India and H.R.H. the Prince of Wales and also has also been the production manager for one of Trinidad's top Soca artist's, Machel Montano,for his Chutney Soca Monarch Performance in 2025. The company is also active in festivals, cultural exchanges, and collaborative productions, including choreography for high-profile events like the Chutney Soca Monarch and Divali Nagar.
Through Susan’s visionary leadership, the company continues to preserve, promote, and reimagine Indian dance traditions, establishing itself as a cultural beacon in Trinidad and the wider diaspora.
